How Sneakers Became the Heart and Sole of Today’s Lifestyle?

Sneakers

There is no footwear other than sneakers in the entire history that has gotten such a glow up and love from a diverse range of people around the globe. Starting as a fitness shoe for men, best for walking or playing to a high-fashion staple is quite a transformation and transition. The love that has been showered upon sneakers shows clearly the pop-culture developments in the past few decades and the potent impact of mass-media and social media.

Lace up sneakers for women

Millennials as well as Gen Z are obsessed with sneaker culture and can’t seem to get enough of it. In fact footwear has become such a money minting fashion category that women tend to spend more on shoes than on handbags and at the heart of all this is lace up sneakers for women.  Let’s look at some reasons for sneakers becoming the heart and sole (pun intended) of today’s lifestyle.

Nowadays women don’t want to punish themselves by wearing stilettos and pointed-toe shoes all day long just to look more professional, boss-like or to give a no-nonsense vibe. In fact all the millennials and Gen Z are keen on comfort and athleisure rather than uncomfortable fashion staples.

This factor is the primary reason for the glow up of sneakers in every part of the globe. Casual, easy-going and comfortable lifestyle has become a custom among people who don’t want to unnecessarily punish themselves to satiate others’ perspectives.

This choice is not only reflected in their footwear choices but also in their apparel choices. Lounge wear, athleisure, sports and other comfortable yet chic attires are currently ruling the markets and sneakers have managed to overcome all the obstacles and become a status symbol that everyone wants to inhabit.

The best part about the sneaker glow is that it’s available in every price point.  People who can afford luxury footwear are seen flaunting these sneakers but also college students and teenagers are casually walking in them.

Miss Lola

Miss Lola is one such company, who strives hard to provide every possible fashion staple to its customer in the best quality and affordable rates so that fashion becomes convenient for everyone and not just for rich people.

Also people’s love and admiration for sneakers can be seen with their pairing up of them with such diverse and different kinds of clothing such as dresses, gowns, blazers, pant suits, short summer dresses as well as traditional bridal wear in southeast Asia! In just a few decades, sneakers have managed to carve a special place for themselves in each person’s wardrobe which can be worn for any occasion possible!

The reason for sneakers becoming such an essential part of our daily lives

According to me, I think the reason for sneakers becoming such an essential part of our daily lives; is due to the evolution of our professional lives and the awareness of gender equality. As the concept of dress code is completely thrown out of the window, thanks to the pandemic, people are becoming more mindful of their talents and capabilities rather than dressing sense and style, this being especially important for working women.

Women around the world are trying to make a strong mark and striving hard to make the society more compassionate and considerate of their talents. In achieving so, sneakers have been very helpful as they come out as gender neutral.

Can we wear heels or not ?

I’m not saying that wearing high heels is wrong, no you are free to wear anything you like but to have a compulsion to dress a certain way or to look a certain way is certainly a redundant concept. Women would love to be admired and appreciated for their work rather than their looks, right ladies?

Most of the Gen Z thinks that sneakers is a rather new concept but little do they know. That it’s been a trend that was started in the 1830s with a pair of pre-vulcanized Brazilian rubber overshoes. Around 150 years later in the 1980s men were seen wearing a more modernized and evolved version of sneakers to gym, offices, meet-ups, parties and even at major celebrations.

High-end brands

As more and more high-end brands started to create their own luxury versions of sneakers. They soon became a must-have fashion accessory that everyone wanted. With luxury brands like Adidas, Nike, Puma, Reebok, Trackster, Fila and ASICS pumping out lace up. Sneakers for women with various features, styles, designs and colors, they soon became a public obsession.

But these brands were still all sports concentrated and the sneakers they made were still restricted to sport activities. The thing started to change for sneakers when Prada. A high-end luxury brand launched their new Prada sports collection in 1997. This collection put the sneakers on the fashion map for a wide number of audiences and the recognition. Love and support it got was never-seen before.

Cut to 2018, the sneakers market has bloomed unimaginably. With all major high-end luxury brands like Gucci, Christian Louboutin, and Dior, Hermes, Balenciaga, Chanel. Jimmy Choo and many others having churned out multiple sneaker collections. These sneakers have been flaunted by women at Wimbledon to Weddings!

Very important reason for the extreme love showered

Another very important reason for the extreme love showered. Upon sneakers are the amazing marketing strategies of the brands that are producing them. Their key move is to first create a hype about their new collection by either partnering up. With a big celebrity or making various celebrities promote vigorously on all platforms. Then they create a fake scarcity for the product by making people; get their hands frantically on the sneakers as if it’s a matter of life or death.

Take the example of Yeezys, Kanye West is minting money with each collection. As they only drop 40,000 pairs per collection that means in countries like Australia. Shops might even receive less than 10 pairs!

Ending Lines

There have been many factors that played a role in ensuring. That sneakers become what they have become in today’s day and age. It’s a strong cocktail of pop-culture, women empowerment; fashion and comfort that led to the glow of sneakers we know and own today.
