One of the most challenging positions in the corporate world is that of an HR manager. Not only do they have to tackle numerous tasks throughout the day, but they also have to deal with the hiring and onboarding of new employees, organizing adequate training for the workforce, as well as team-building events, and the solving of different employees’ grievances and issues. HRs have to do their best to keep them happy.

The tricky thing about compensation and benefits is that everything costs money, and there is a limit as to what most companies can provide, so it’s up to HR professionals to enable companies and employees to meet somewhere in the middle. 

One solution would be to come up with performance-based benefits, such as bonuses, or to allow the worker to get a promotion if there is room for it. The latter doesn’t necessarily have to include a big raise either, sometimes the employee will simply want recognition for all the hard work they have been putting in.

  1. Facilitate Remote Onboarding

Introducing new employees used to be a fairly simple process, but nowadays, there are all sorts of challenges, mainly due to COVID-19. Social distancing, wearing masks, and lack of live meetings and interaction with fellow co-workers have made onboarding a nightmare for HRs.

The solution? HRs need to make sure that new colleagues feel welcome by organizing more frequent virtual meetings, interactive activities, as well as to pair them up with someone who is going to show them around, so to speak. Although all of these are not as effective as the time spent in the office among peers, it’s the next best thing, and oftentimes, the only possible option.
